Vacation???

Summer vacation is finally here. I waited a very loooong 180 school days for this and well, is not really working out so well. BOOO!!!

First of all, the weather sucks! It has rained non-stop for weeks on end and due to the lovely rain, we woke up to 4 inches of water in our basement. BOOO!!!

Our lovely home has a 2100 sqft basement. Add 4 inches of water to that and well, we have a MESS! Thankfully only a small portion of the basement is finished and we had only begun framing the rest, because our insurance company doesn't seem to think they need to help us AT. ALL. BOOOO!!!!

So here's to better and warmer days ahead. May the sun come out and dry up all the rain. We would really like to start enjoying our long awaited summer vacation.

Why I MUST move

This is my house.

It's a nice house, BUT.......
This is Walter

And this is Nibbles and Isabelle, AND....

They REALLY, really want more friends. So, we should move to a place like this....

Or this one

Or this one

And then I would buy this little beauty for only $600. What a deal!

And then we would ALL be happy!!!

Happy Birthday Zack

Last week we celebrated Zack's 11th birthday.
Every year I think "wow, where has the time gone?" and this year is no different. It's crazy how fast time flies. Usually it completely depresses me, I hate getting older and I don't want my kids to grow up. But the reality is, we are aging every day and the kids HAVE to grow up. I absolutely LOVE watching my kids grow and learn. It's exciting to see how much they have progressed over the years. Of course, I still wish time would slow down!

This year Zack decided to have a movie theatre themed birthday party with his friends. We had already seen all the good movies playing in the theatres, so we decided to have it in our basement. He invited a few friends from school and from his basketball team and watched "Open Season 3."
We decorated with a popcorn theme and even had a homemade cake (why does he do this to me???!!!) decorated like popcorn! I thought it looked awful, but Zack LOVED it.

He received lots of great gifts, including more of his FAVORITE toys, NERF guns, which led to yet another NERF war through the house. Ahhhh!!!! Honestly, I wasn't sure I was going to survive that last hour. Luckily, the dog and I got out alive AND the house was still standing!!!
*************************************************************************************

Sunday we celebrated yet again, this time with a family party. We were unsure if anyone would make it up due to a snow storm during the night, but thankfully most were able to make it.

A few weeeks before the party I had asked Zack what kind of cake he wanted for his birthday. His reply was "Oh, mom, all I think about is Wendy's carrot cake. That's ALL I want for my birthday!"

Wendy is one of my dearest friends and former neighbor from Sandy, and oh boy can she bake! She has been told on many occasions to open a bakery and I sure wish she would! Well, I HAD to call her to put in Zack's birthday request. She was so excited to make his cake and it turned out DELICIOUS!!! (My mouth is watering for it now. Mmmmm.......)

Again, he received lots of great gifts, and lots of MONEY, his favorite! But spending time with his cousins was the best part of the day. Of course another NERF war was had!!!

I am so proud of the young man my little bug has become. I love this kid with my heart and soul. His beautiful eyes and freckle nose melt my heart daily. I thank God everyday for trusting me to be his mommy.
LOVE YOU BUG!!! XOXOXOXO

Resolutions and Reality

2011, A new year and new resolutions.
This year I resolve to be realistic. Yep, that's it. I may set a few goals along the way-but they will be realistic ones that I can reach.

Now I know that I SHOULD be resolving to lose weight, exercise more, be nicer, stop swearing, be better organized, finish the basement, finish all my crafts before starting new onesand the list goes on and on and on and on.
BUT, remember, I am being REALISTIC here. So.....
I will TRY not to gain weight, I won't swear at the treadmill, I'll TRY not to hate Jillian, I will buy a whole bunch more containers with the intention of putting things away nicely, try to finish most of the crafty things I start and only worry about getting the walls up in the basement. Thank goodness I have a whole year to TRY to work on these.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Christmas 2010

Another Christmas come and gone. It sure does go by quickly.
I had every intention of getting everything done early this year so that I would have more time to enjoy the magic of the season, but it just didn't happen that way. I blame my surgery back in November for setting me back so far behind! However, because I got lost in the hustle and bustle I made a decision that we will NOT be celebrating this way anymore. Nope, Christmas has become too commercial and meaningless. Next year we are starting a new tradition and taking a family vacation during Christmas break and forgetting all the shopping. Call me Bah Humbug if you will, but do your kids remember everything they got for Christmas? Do they remember your last family vacation? Yeah, mine remember every minute of Hawaii, Disneyland, etc...
Well, despite the hustle and bustle, we had a great Christmas. It was wonderful to spend time with our family and loved ones. Christmas morning went off without a hitch and we all got everything we wanted!
